Looking for advice to better my PVP game.

[:1]Hi all. This is the first time I've visited the WoW forums so please bare with me.

I've been putting extra effort into bettering myself in PvP. I use to do PvE but I've become bored with this aspect of WoW. I began PvPing roughly 3 weeks before the end of Season 9. I now have an understanding of how to combat certain classes, but my knowledge isn't top notch yet.

I'm looking for some advice as to the gear I have and what stats I should push for. I understand that mastery can be pretty good for shattering, however I've read that you're suppose to cap crit at ~30%.

I currently run 2's with an IRL friend who just started PVP with me, as a rogue. My question to the board is if I should ditch my Crit Strike trinket and use a +321 mastery, 1920 Spellpower trinket. Also, if theres some reforging I could do more damage with shatters.

Last, I'm still curious if i should respec into blazing speed / impact. I've seen mages run this talent tree, however I'm not sure as to how effective Impact really is. 10% Chance of being able to use a 2 second stun seems effective, however I'm not sure how much this procs to make it worth my time.


Any tips, tricks, hints of advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm still researching how to handle each class that I go up against, but I'm having a blast doing it as it's something new to do compared to the ol' raiding aspect.


Spec impact yes, the extra CC is great for peeling, interrupting casts and just plain messing people up.

stat order is:

4% hit > 200-240 Spen > Intellect >> Crit to 18-20% > Mastery > Crit > haste.

I love soul casket and it could be useful for you if you chose to mastery stack, which you should.

I would STRONGLY suggest watching a lot of mage pvp videos. Wpvp, bgs, arenas, whatever you can find. Also, watch other classes pvp videos, even though you don't know what's going on, you can see how other classes move about, how they get killed/countered and how they win.

If you have the money to spare, look up skill capped, it's an amazing website and it REALLY helps a lot.
